Similar Images: Image Recognition in Image Search
The first new project that Google is touting is Similar Images, which uses image recognition technology to help you filter and organize image search results. Say you’re trying to find pictures of a specific person, but many people share his or her name. How do you filter the results?
Google Similar Images Result for: David Beckham

Similar Images fixes this problem. Here’s how it works: by clicking the link under any picture, it will pull up only pictures with similar characteristics and traits. In Google’s example, they show how it can differentiate between jaguars (the animal) and jaguars (the car). In the example I’ve added below, I’ve shown how it can even focus on just action shots of soccer/football star David Beckham.
If you can’t think of the exact words to search for, this feature could be a boon. Its accuracy is impressive, although like any technology, it is not perfect.
Google News Timeline: Time-Oriented Overview of News

The other major feature coming out of Google Labs is Google News Timeline, which shows Google news results in a chronological timeline that can be sorted by day, week, month, year, and even decades. It’s a useful way to scan major news stories related to a specific topic. You can still pull up related articles as well.
If you’re looking for an overview of a phenomenon or event, News Timeline may be a perfect tool. It also seems suited for anybody who wants a very quick overview of recent events or events well back into history. Finally, don’t confuse this with another Google Labs project, Timeline View.(Article by MASHABLE ,We really love these guy do visit mashable )
